A data center is a physical facility used by companies to store critical applications and data. It includes facilities, enterprise data storage infrastructure, support infrastructure, and operational equipment. Modern solutions enable remote operation with minimal human interaction.
Data center infrastructure refers to the core physical resources and components, including IT devices, equipment, and technologies, that make up a data center. It encompasses servers, computers, networking equipment like routers and switches, security systems such as firewalls and biometric access controls, and storage solutions like storage area networks (SAN) or backup/tape storage. Additionally, it includes data center management software and applications, as well as non-computing resources such as power and cooling devices (e.g., air conditioners or generators), physical server racks, cables, and the internet backbone. This infrastructure is carefully planned and designed to support the efficient and secure operation of a data center
Data center services is a collective term for all the supporting components necessary to the proper operation of a data center. This includes all the implementation, maintenance and operation of a data center. As such, data center services can involve hardware, software, processes and personnel. Data center services are responsible for giving IT organizations data backup and recovery, networking, website hosting, data management and so on. Because some data centers can be hosted on the cloud, data center infrastructure management (DCIM) can also be used as a service on the cloud
